McDonnell employees enjoy the camaraderie and fulfillment of working together to achieve a goal, particularly when it comes to helping others in their community. Teams regularly volunteer throughout the year, choosing to donate their time and energy with a focus on providing enrichment and hope.
Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser - Oct. 2018
In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease, employees joined forces to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation (https://www.nationalbreastcancer.org/). We raised nearly $800 in contributions, inspired to give hope to those bravely battling breast cancer as they strive for ultimate wellness.
Feed My Starving Children - Apr. 2018
Community service in April involved volunteer participation at Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) based in Aurora, IL https://www.fmsc.org/. FMSC is a Christian non-profit organization committed to feeding God’s children hungry in body and spirit. McDonnell employees devoted time to hand-pack meals specially formulated for malnourished children which are sent to partners around the world where they’re used to operate orphanages, schools, clinics and feeding programs to break the cycle of poverty.
Family Shelter Service - Dec. 2017
In December McDonnell embraced the season of giving by participating in a community service event to lend time and donated items to a local organization operating a holiday store for its residents. We provided support to Family Shelter Service, a facility based in suburban Chicago for people who have been affected by domestic violence. Family Shelter Service has a mission of seeking to transform lives by offering help and hope to victims (see https://lnkd.in/ebFmSMa).
American Red Cross - Dec. 2017
Employees rallied together to raise donations for the American Red Cross, directing individual contributions to support the Red Cross with relief efforts related to the major hurricanes that devastated parts of Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico. McDonnell kicked in to match employee contributions which ended up exceeding $5,000. We are proud of our philanthropic nature and commitment to provide aid to people experiencing disaster.
Mobile Food Pantry - Oct. 2017
For our October event, employees partnered with the Northern Illinois Food Bank and sponsored a Mobile Food Truck that provided healthy food to those in need in a nearby community. McDonnell volunteers facilitated the set-up and distribution of food to approximately 70 households with a total of 344 family members at the mobile pantry.
Helping Hand Center - May 2017
Our May service event involved getting our hands dirty – literally! Employees banded together to assist in outdoor projects at “Helping Hand Center” in Countryside, IL. The mission of Helping Hand Center is to assist persons with disabilities to achieve their highest level of independence through quality programs and services. Team members performed mulching, weeding, garbage pick-up, outside window washing, flower planting and shrub trimming at one of the community residential homes. The group effort resulted in both beautification and improvement of the structure and landscaping.
